The Australian Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa is a temporary visa designed for foreign workers to come to Australia and fill skilled job vacancies in industries facing skills shortages.
The Subclass 482 (TSS) visa is a temporary visa for foreign workers to come to Australia and fill skilled job vacancies in industries facing skills shortages.
There are two streams in TSS
- Short-Term Stream: This stream is for a period of up to two years and is intended for employers to fill short-term skill shortages.
- Medium-Term Stream: This stream is for a period of up to four years and is intended for employers to fill medium-term skill shortages. This stream also provides a pathway to permanent residency in Australia for eligible visa holders through the Subclass 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme) visa.
In addition to the Australian Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (Subclass 482), there are several other employer-sponsored temporary visas in Australia, including:
- Subclass 400 (Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist)) visa: This visa is for individuals coming to Australia for a short-term, non-ongoing, highly specialized work.
- Subclass 401 (Temporary Work (Long Stay Activity)) visa: This visa is for individuals coming to Australia to participate in an approved activity, such as a cultural exchange program.
- Subclass 403 (Temporary Work (International Relations)) visa: This visa is for individuals coming to Australia to work in an international relations capacity, such as a diplomat.
- Subclass 408 (Temporary Activity) visa: This visa is for individuals coming to Australia to participate in a range of temporary activities, such as Religious activities , making a film or participating in a cultural program.

Most employer-sponsored temporary visas require a valid job offer from an approved sponsor in Australia.

Applicants must meet the required skills and qualifications for the job they are being sponsored for.

All visa applicants must meet the health and character requirements set by the Australian government.
