Temporary Graduate Visa( Subclass 485)
The Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) is an Australian visa for international students who have recently graduated from an Australian educational institution. It allows these students to live and work in Australia temporarily after they have completed their studies.
The visa is valid for 18 to 36 months, depending on the field of study and the visa stream. This visa provides an opportunity for recent graduates to gain practical work experience in their field and build professional networks in Australia.
The visa has two streams:
Graduate Work stream and Post-Study Work stream
The common criteria for Temporary Graduate visas
Course completion / Graduation
The applicant must have recently graduated from an Australian educational institution with a degree, diploma, or trade qualification.
English language proficiency
The applicant must meet the English language requirements, which may include taking an English language test.
Health and character requirements
The applicant must pass health and character checks.
AFP Clearance
The applicants required to undergo an Australian Federal Police (AFP) clearance before submit the visa application.
Health Insurance
The Applicants must have adequate health insurance coverage for the duration of their stay in Australia.
Age
The applicant must be under the age of 50.
Skilled-Recognised Graduate visa (subclass 476)
The Skilled-Recognised Graduate visa (subclass 476) is a temporary visa for international engineering graduates who have recently completed their qualifications in Australia. It allows them to gain practical engineering work experience in Australia, with a view to becoming eligible for permanent residency.
Eligibility criteria for the Skilled-Recognised Graduate visa include
Age
The applicant must be under 31 years of age at the time of application.
Have not held this visa
Not have previously been the primary visa holder of subclass 476 or 485 visa
English language ability
The applicant must meet the minimum English language requirement.
Health
The applicant must meet the health requirements set by the Australian government.
Character
The applicant must pass a character assessment and have no prior criminal convictions or other issues that may impact their eligibility for a visa.
Work experience
The applicant must have the plan to gain practical engineering work experience in Australia
Educational institutions
Have completed an engineering degree at a specified educational institution in the past 2 years You must have completed your engineering qualification at a specified educational institution. Any institution offering an Engineering qualification accredited under the Washington Accord is a specified institution. If you studied at an institution or college that is only affiliated with a Washington Accord-specified institution, you would not satisfy this requirement.
Second Post-Study Work stream
This visa is for holders of a Temporary Graduate visa(first Post-Study Work stream or Replacement Stream) who graduated with a degree from an Australian institution located in a regional area. It lets you live, work and study in Australia, temporarily.
