Australian Student Visa
Australian student visa is a type of visa that allows foreign students to study in Australia at a recognized education institution. The visa is issued by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) and allows students to stay in Australia for the duration of their course. To apply for an Australian student visa, applicants must have a valid offer of enrolment from an education institution that is registered with the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). https://cricos.education.gov.au/
The types of Student visas:
Student visa Subclass 500:
Student visa for School Sector ,Vocational Training Sector , Higher Educational Sector and ELICOS courses.
Student Guardian visa Subclass 590:
Student Guardian visa for individuals responsible for the welfare of an international student under 18 years of age.
The common criteria for Australian Student visas
Financial capacity
Proof of sufficient funds to cover course fees, living expenses, and return travel. You must show proof of having enough resources to pay for your living expenses, travel and tuition fees. A minimum of AU$20,290 annually is required for your living expenses. If you are accompanied by your wife and children, there must be evidence of your ability to support them while in Australia and this includes tuition fee for schooling of your child.
English proficiency
Proof of English language proficiency is necessary when you come from a country that is not English-speaking. Conversely, if you have not studied in an English-speaking country for at least five years, the same rule applies. Among the tests you can sit for are Cambridge Advanced English Test, TOEFLiBT, Pearson Test of English, and IELTS. You need to have a minimum score depending on the course you intend to pursue like English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students, foundation course or undergraduate studies.
Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) criteria
Intent to stay temporarily in Australia for the purpose of study.
Health insurance
Must have appropriate health insurance for the duration of stay in Australia.
Heath and Character
Must meet Health and character requirements.
No debts to the Australian government
Must not have any outstanding debts to the Australian government.
Enrolment
Offer of enrolment from an Australian educational institution.
